So, what we're going to be talking about for the next few minutes is simply how veterans go about filing these applications with the Department of Veterans Affairs. If you're a veteran, there are essentially four different ways that you can file an application for disability compensation benefits, and they're relatively straightforward. First, you can go down to your local VA regional office and simply let one of the VA customer service representatives know that you want to file an application for disability benefits. Now, there are 58 of these regional offices scattered throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines, and the regional offices' primary purpose is to handle various types of benefits claims. VA Disability Compensation Information If you have a disability for which you may be eligible for compensation under this program, please have your disability information available when completing your claim or in case of a claim review. You need to indicate whether you have: a. A rating based on the severity of your condition, or b. Other types of rating that include a limitation on your function, or c. A rating on the number of hours (or other period of time) on active duty you would have to perform to have a rating of no less than 30% for the severity of your condition.
